Grey Speckled Palapye is another great variety of cowpea for the Pacific Northwest. However, in contrast to our bush cowpea Fast Lady, these compact, vining plants enjoy a trellis to climb up — though they don't get much taller than 4-5'.

The dark-patterned beans are delicious eaten in "shelly stage" (when young) or as a dry bean, it gives good flavor in the kitchen.
