This under-appreciated plant provides nutritious early greens, cheery yellow flowers in late spring, and roots that are great dried for tea. 

The humble dandelion is truly a great garden ally that is widely misunderstood. While it may be a little too vigorous for its own good, these edible plants also help accumulate nutrients in the soil, and help break up hard clay soils with their deep taproots — invaluable in our local soils.
