Annual. Cyclanthera brachybotrys
7 seeds per packet.
This rare South American edible — a cucurbit relative — can grow 15 feet or more in a season. The vine produces curious looking fruits that appear spiky but are actually soft and really fun to eat, tasting similar to cucumber but a different texture.
Great for a kid's garden, or anyone looking to explore unusual edibles. In our opinion, fruits are best eaten when they are about the size of a large grape. Let the fruits mature until they are a bit larger and they become hollow, less tasty for fresh eating but great for stuffing and roasting!
Interesting black seeds that look like tree bark puzzle pieces, readily self sows and creates volunteers if left to it's own devices. Very fun plant friend, we always grow this one to add some curiosity to the edible offerings of the garden
