This is one of the most revered Ayurvedic herbs, and luckily it is easy to grow at home and doesn't require much space! Makes attractive little fruits that ripen to a bright red late in the season, hence the common name "winter cherry." Used as an adaptogen and sexual tonic, this potent medicinal makes a great addition to gardens in the Pacific Northwest when grown as an annual.
