It is insanely easy to grow, and in our trials it flowered mid-July through October. This remarkably long flowering period feeds all kinds of pollinators, and makes it a great nectar plant for beekeepers! This buckwheat was originally collected by Akio Ujihara, a professor emeritus from Shinshu University, growing wild at an elevation of 12,000 feet in the Himalayas. Today, it is grown worldwide and is renowned for its beauty as a cover crop or in mixed plantings.
