Pea, Cascadia
Pea, Cascadia
Annual. Pisum sativum
20 seeds per packet.
One of the greatest garden snacks. Sweet, juicy pods are best picked a few days after you think they look ready. 4-5ft vines are shorter than other snap pea varieties, but set equally as much fruit in a more concentrated area. Leave some pods to mature for saving seed, and harvest when the pods turn wrinkly and begin to brown. Dry ASAP and then freeze seeds for 1 month to kill pea weevil larvae which are a very common problem here in the PNW. Do not let brown pods hang on the vines, you want to pick them and dry them as soon as you can to prevent the weevils destroying the viability of the seed.
