Annual. Solanum lycopersicum. 25 seeds per packet
A standout heirloom beefsteak tomato, of Russian origin and named after Paul Robeson, a black man who was famous in the early 20th century for his activism and talent as a singer, actor, and athlete. Paul won the Stalin Peace Prize in 1952, and the tomato has been world-renowned for flavor ever since.
Selected to thrive in short seasons, this is one of the better performing beefsteak tomatoes that we have ever grown in the PNW. Delicious balanced flavor, large and beautiful fruits on sturdy plants, pretty much everything you could ask for in a heirloom beefsteak!
Grown in collaboration with Feed'em Freedom Foundation, a black-owned food justice organization here in Portland. These seeds were grown on their land and tended by our team of volunteers and apprentices. We are donating 1/2 of all seeds we grow at FFF directly back to them for sharing through regional "seed vaults", an emerging project between Rhythm Seed and FFF that will provide locally adapted and culturally relevant seed varieties for free to BIPOC communities across the region.
