Garden Concert Series: Max Ribner, Alexa Lux & Friends - Resilient Beings Community Album Fundraiser

Tickets are $25-$75 sliding scale. No one turned away for lack of funds - please reach out to Rhythm Seed Farm via their website if you cannot afford a ticket but would still like to come 😊

>> 4:30pm: GATES OPEN

>> 5pm - 6pm: SEED HARVEST

We’ll walk the farm harvesting ripe seeds from a variety of medicinal and edible plants. Learn how to identify ripe seed and how to harvest and clean the seed, effectively separating it from the plant matter (aka chaff). We will also talk about fermentation of wet processed seeds like melon and tomato, and likely talk a bit about seed history, open pollinated vs. hybrid seeds and general seed sovereignty practices for modern times.

>> 6pm - 7pm: PICNIC DINNER

Open time for Q&A with the garden stewards, community connection, picnic dinner (BYO), and garden exploration.

>> 7pm - 10pm: RESILIENT BEINGS

Collaborative concert featuring Max Ribner, Alexa Lux, Ian Love Covington, and friends! Held in Rhythm Seed’s outdoor gathering space in the center of the garden, surrounded by plants, we will soak in the beauty and power of musical vibrations among the late summer flowers. More info about this interactive & collaborative musical experience below.

Reishi Strauss will also be setting up Earth & Spirit Elixir Bar, serving delicious & healing herbal beverages made with herbs, roots, and fruits grown in the Rhythm Seed garden. Menu items could include Tulsi Lemongrass Mojitos and Herbaceous Blackberry Lemonade, available by donation to support Rhythm Seed Farm's mission.

Bring a chair or blanket to get cozy, and something to keep you warm as the sun goes down. Ticket price is considered a donation to 501(c)(3) Rhythm Seed Farm and donation receipts can be provided if you would like.

ABOUT THE RESILIENT BEINGS EXPERIENCE:

We welcome you all to 1st Language - an immersive sound journey creatively directed by Max Ribner and local artists.

The music creates a collective experience where the audience becomes the orchestra. Max & the accompanying artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience by offering themselves as an anchor and providing simple melodies to sing along with. The musicians are committed to being with what’s present in the moment and thrive off of audience participation - ‘you feed us and we feed you’. The journey is co-collaborative and infused with creative improvised instrumentals.

It is our birthright to sing, to move and all be a part of music. When we sing together we can tap into a sense of belonging and interconnectedness. We can become a lighthouse to finding ourselves and seeing each other. Every part of ourselves is welcomed to be held and witnessed as part of this shared space. When we can open our palms to be with both the joyful and challenging aspects of life, we can open ourselves up to deeper freedom, harmony, and co-creativity.

We welcome individuals from all cultural backgrounds and anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+.

ABOUT MAX RIBNER:

What are the common threads that bridge jazz, soul, and classical music with spiritual connection and community service?

This is the question that drives international touring artist Max Ribner. The sound that answers is rich, reverent, and intimate, connecting us through the lineage of music, to the stories of our ancestors. In the past, Max's unique and fusion-inspired approach to Flugelhorn and trumpet has led him to perform with artists such as Esperanza Spalding, Nahko And Medicine For The People, Trevor Hall, The Polish Ambassador, Liv Warfield and many more. The result of years of collaboration with such a broad musical community is powerfully illustrated on Max's debut solo album, 1st Language. The 11-song debut album brings 50+ artists together in a cross-continental collaboration for the ages. Alexa Lux is an animist musician, artist, and social entrepreneur gratefully rooted in the enchanting forests of Mt. Hood, Oregon. She tends to the generative intersections of music, community organization, and digital design in her own original music, in the growing ventures Cascadia Folk Choir and Big Heart Gathering, and through her work with branding firm Our Living Design Studio.
